SAMUDERA INDONESIA RESULTING ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN THROUGH WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS

PARTNERS:
PT. Samudera Indonesia

INDUSTRY:
Shipping and logistics company

OBJECTIVES:

One of the steps to reduce the amount of landfill waste can be done by sorting and managing waste, where waste can become something of value. Garbage bank is one solution.

Samudera Indonesia is realizing its concern for the environment through the “Waste Management” program for the Anyelir Garbage Bank located at Jalan Kemanggisan Ilir RT 06 RW 07 No. 09 Kemanggisan Village, Palmerah District, West Jakarta.

CHALLENGE:

Garbage is a social problem that needs special attention and is a shared responsibility. The amount of waste generated by the community every day certainly adds to the volume of waste in landfills (TPA).

SOLUTIONS:

On Wednesday, 9th November 2022 the activity began with a socialization of the program which was attended by Samudera Cares, Environment, Palmerah District, Kemanggisan Village and Filantra.

In this socialization activity, assistance was also handed over in the form of laptops and savings books to the management of the Carnation Waste Bank. Waste management practitioners were also presented where later the managers would be assisted to increase the capacity of the waste bank as an effort to reduce piles of waste in the environment and how the collected waste could be reused into products that have selling value.

Through this program that will run for three months, it is hoped that the waste collected in the waste bank can be processed and converted into materials that have economic value, are useful and are not harmful to the environment.

“Thank you very much to Samudera Indonesia for this Waste Management program, with material assistance, assistance, training and others. Hopefully the Anyelir Garbage Bank will continue to exist and can help with waste problems,” said Nurbayani as Head of the Anyelir Garbage Bank.
