OBJECTIVES:
As a form of concern in improving people’s English language skills, PT Transjakarta held a program entitled “English Literacy Village”.
CHALLENGE:
English is an international language that is widely used by many countries. As is the case in the digitalization era as it is today, English skills are an important part that must be owned by every individual.
SOLUTIONS:
The program implemented by Filantra has been running from April to December 2022. It is being implemented at the RW 05 Secretariat, Kebon Pala Village, Makasar District, East Jakarta.
Program participants consist of grades 3 to grade 6 of elementary school. They were provided with learning materials including vocabulary material, grammar, introduction, story telling, and pre-student performance.
Interesting learning methods make students not bored and enthusiastic about attending classes every week.
“Nine months after the program has been running, December 19, 2022 will be the end of the program which will be closed with a graduation ceremony attended by around 43 participants in the English Literacy Village program. The hope is that through this program, the capacity and skills of program participants can increase in using English,” said Asep Nurdin, CEO of Filantra.
The graduation procession was personally attended by Iwan Samariansyah as Head of Public Relations of PT Transjakarta, Asep Nurdin as CEO of Filantra, Hartono as Head of RW 05 Kebon Pala Village, Putut as Secretary of RT 12 RW 05, Miss Yayah Kudsiyah and Miss Choirunnisa as a teacher at the Literacy Village English.
The graduation ceremony was also enlivened by artistic displays from participants in the English Literacy Village program.
Head of RW 05 Kebon Pala Village, Hartono hopes that the English Literacy Village program can be continued so that people’s English skills are further honed.
